Class of 1972

As I am now cranking into 35 years practicing law, thought it might be good idea to recharge and clear my brain a bit. So…
I took a two month sabbatical this past summer.

We traveled all about France, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Greece and Turkey and then lived in Montmartre’s 18th Arrondissment in Paris in a little swell apartment for a month. From Berlin to Prague to Ephesus to Istanbul and Italian Alps and the Tour de France and Bastille Day with a million of our best friends on the Champs de Mars rocking out and raising hell with the great Johnny Halliday, it not only was the trip of my lifetime, it has whetted our appetites for a much bigger set of bites out of this mortal coil.
While I am back happily laboring in the vinyards of the law, I am more and more aware of that great admonition, “Carpe Diem!”
Good Advice.

I did a daily blog replete with lots of pictures.
Here’s the link- www.vernononvacation.blogspot.com
Check it out-a) Had a ball and b) Try it. You’ll like it!
All the best to all my fine Beta Deke Brothers & Kindest Regards,
Vernon Glenn, Chapel Hill ’72

And of course, Go Heels!
And remember, even though this year’s hoops is a nose-holding,eyes-averting weird experience, this too will pass and quickly too.

While the wonderful Charles G. “Lefty” Drisell once noted that, “The sun don’t shine on the same dog’s a** all the time.”, I do believe our Tar Heel will soon enough re-align the planets in their proper order.

I wanted to write and say how thrilled I am that I now have 1 DKE son-Paul Jr,a junior and 1 Dke pledge-Jim,a freshman at Chapel Hill,as well as my nephew,Wood Breeden from Charlotte – My wife ,Sharon, has indicated that I am having an extremely difficult time leaving the DKE House on football weekends-of course she is correct! My daughter,Dillard, graduated last May,2007 and is now living in Los Angeles, which she loves! I hope to see many of you in Chapel Hill in the coming months and years-I believe my class has a reunion in the fall of ’08 and look forward to seeing as many us that can make it-if not maybe at some football weekend-Again,congratulations to the active DKE’s on a great rush effort and their ultimate success with 26 pledges.

I saw Duncan Anderson, 1973, recently in Nantucket. He tells me he’s sold his business, bought a sailboat and retired to St Barts, FWI
