I am about to finish up my service in the Air Force after four years, having spent the majority of my time in Southern California and a brief stint in Saudi Arabia earlier this year. I will be heading to Harvard Business School in the Fall, but look forward to seeing everyone at a football game. New E-mail: [email protected]

Life is good for the Friersons in Athens. Lucy is 6, Joseph IV is almost 4 and we are excited to have #3 arriving in late June. And by “”we are excited”” I mean that Lisa is ecstatic and I am nauseous. Nevertheless, it is what it is. We are naming #3 “”Chris Mumford Frierson”” and calling him “”Nub”” which was a spirited moniker bestowed on my great-grandfather. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Best to all the DKE boys.

My wife, Blythe, son, Luke (4) and I traveled to China in February of 2006 to adopt a young girl, Ellyn Min Mei Hutchinson. We returned to Durham on February 17 and all is going well! This past fall, I started a sports marketing company, Insider Sports Marketing – with a focus on sports sponsorship sales and consulting for a number of teams and leagues throughout the Southeast and US, including for my “”home base”” – the Durham Bulls Baseball Club, where I have worked for the past nine (9) years. Please say hello when you visit the Triangle for your next UNC game!

Lisa and I are living in Athens, Ga., and trying to keep up with our children, Lucy (3 years old) and Joseph IV (1 year old). We just visited Chris Mumford ’92 in Chattanooga, Tenn. Chris is happily married for two years now and has recently bought an alpaca farm north of Chattanooga. It is a beautiful place right on the river and he has about forty-five head of alpaca that he is raising.

Lisa and I are doing great. Our kids are maniacs but also a blast. Just spent a great weekend with Frank(1992) and Catherine Edwards in Charlotte. Rick Hopkins(1991) and I are Godparents for their new boy Turner(hopefully 2021). Also just helped Chris Mumford(Spring Pledge, 1992) move from Chattanooga back to his hometown of Richmond. Chris and Nicole are doing fabulous. Nicole has landed a modeling contract with a very prominent fashion label, which makes Chris very happy. Chris has given up his alpaca farms to re-commit himself to cooking, his true love. Chris has opened Mumfs, a neo-Californian bistro, in Richmond’s Shocko-Slip area. Try the prune-glazed duck over arugula if you are in the area. It is fabulous

All is great with the Friersons. We recently had Frank Edwards(1992) and his family down to Athens for a great weekend. I am heading to Las Vegas with Chris Mumford (Spring, 1992)in a few weeks. Chris and his lovely wife Nicole just had twins so I am not sure how he is getting away. Chris just sold his restaurant in Richmond to a group of investors. With his new-found freedom he has explored franchising opportunities with Captain D’s. By the way, Chris just missed qualifying for golf’s Q-school. He left his must-make eagle putt short by the tip of an index finger to come 1-stroke short of qualifying. Still, a great effort for the former All-American tennis player.
