Class of 1970 Reaches 100% Participation

We’d like to recognize the Class of 1970, led by Jim Gray III, Wooten “Dog” Lamm, and Bill Tyne Jr., who last week reached 100% participation in supporting The Four Corners Campaign. Their generous support, along with that of 170+ Beta DKEs–including the Class of 1971 which also has 100% participation, puts us closer to our goal to raise $1.28 million.

Which class will be next to reach 100% participation? (The Class of 2005 is close with just 1 brother left to make his pledge). Rally your class and join the exciting movement to preserve the future of our great fraternity at UNC.
Balancing the DKE Brotherhood with Tar Heel Basketball

Choosing the right Greek organization can be one of the most important decisions that a student can make. For Zach Palmer, the decision to join Delta Kappa Epsilon was easy. He was looking for a fraternity that would provide a healthy balance between his academics and social life.
“It was important to me to find a group of guys with likeminded interests and that is what I found at DKE,” said Zach.
In addition to balancing academics and DKE commitments, Zach is also a member of the Junior Varsity Basketball Team at UNC. He is learning to budget his time as efficiently as possible.
A Shoe-In for Success with a Unique Invention

“Necessity may be the mother of invention, but play is certainly the father.”
-Roger Von Oech
For DKE senior Fletcher Cox ’17, this quote sums up how his invention, Strip-Straps, came to be.
A true lover of adventure and playing in the outdoors, Fletcher spent some time working as a kayaking guide and scuba instructor in the US Virgin Islands in 2014. His boss happened to be a DKE alum.
Blast from the Past: 1972

Look at those sports coats and hair styles. Can anyone from the early ’70s weigh in on some of the best stories from that era? What was chapter and campus life like? What are your best memories? What lifelong friends pictured here are you still in touch with today?

Class of 2005 Bonds Together for Meg

As the Class of 2005 nears 100% commitments for the DKExcellence: The Four Corners Campaign, class agent Alston Mann ’05 says that even though they are younger alumni, he had no doubt his brothers would step up.
“For me, I knew every single person would step up for Meg because of what she meant to us, then and now,” said Alston. “For others, it may be Eddie Caldwell or the memories they have in the actual structure, but for us it was the person that helped get us through our 4 (…to 5) years.”
This class alone has already pledged $27,000 collectively and they have decided that 100% of their gift will be going to the Meg Miller Fund.

Class of ’71 Bonds Prove Unbreakable Nearly 50 Years After Graduation

Nearly 50 years after graduation and the DKE Class of ’71 impressively gained a 100% commitment to the DKExcellence: The Four Corners Campaign. This speaks volumes to the strong bonds that have kept this class together.
“It all started back in 1975 when a few of us thought it would be good idea to get together on the 5th anniversary of our graduation,” said class agent Craig Perry ’71. “Having it in Chapel Hill was a natural. We try to have a reunion every five years.”
