Beta Chapter’s Resolution: To Stay Connected and Involved

With the New Year upon us, it’s time to start thinking about New Year’s Resolutions. One of Beta Chapter’s 2016 resolutions is to stay connected with our fellow brothers and be more active. So, what have you been up to since you left UNC? One of our brothers remembers pulling a really funny prank on a fellow alumnus! Click below to find out how you can reach out to your brothers this year, share your successes and see what everyone’s been up to.

Beta Chapter Depends on You!

We are halfway through our giving year, which started on September 1, 2015, with $15,856.64 from 72 donors. We are roughly halfway to our set goal of $27,500 from 100 donors!

As an alumnus, you may not have Beta Chapter at the top of your priority list. Maybe you’ve lost touch, maybe you’ve gotten caught up with your job, your family and a life of your own. There are many reasons why you might not be as close to the chapter as you’d like, but there’s one big reason why you should be.

Without your help, there may not be a Beta Chapter in the future.

Brothers Reunite and Relive a Treasured Memory

Burke Lewis ’96, Danny MacNelly ’96 and Andrew Maebius ’96 celebrated the 20th anniversary their running of the Richmond Marathon. They had all run the marathon as juniors at UNC in 1994; they ran it again this past November. MacNelly and Maebius opted for the half marathon. “We’re twice as old, so we should only run half as far,” said MacNelly, but Lewis stuck with the marathon and ran an impressive 2 hours, 58 minutes, which will likely qualify him for the Boston Marathon. The three sang many of their favorite DKE songs (“A band of brothers from D-K-E . . “) throughout the race.
