Reunion Fever!
It’s 2015, and that means that classes ending in 0 or 5 are up for big reunions this year. Are you planning yours? Last year, the Class of 1962 held a cookout to celebrate their 52 years as brothers, and the Class of 1984 met in Virginia to celebrate their 30 years as brothers.
Former Beta Chapter President Seeks Election to UNC Board of Directors
Brother Hadley Callaway ’84 would like to remind you all that Brother Alfred M. “Ran” Randolph Jr. ’84 is a 2015 candidate for the UNC General Alumni Association Board of Directors. Ran is a former chapter president, former member of the IFC, fellow of the American Bar Association and partner at Kaufman & Canoles, P.C. But his resume extends far beyond this.
Beta Welcomes 24 New Members!
Congratulations to the 24 new pledges who joined the Beta brotherhood this week. Click below to read more about each one of them.
How Will You Remember This UNC Legend?
Dean Smith. It is a name that is synonymous with leadership, winning, hard work, tradition and dedication. And while Coach Smith was not a Deke (he was a Phi Gam from Kansas), he stood for many of our Delta Kappa Epsilon qualities: “The Gentleman, the Scholar, and the Jolly Good-Fellow.” As the coach of the men’s basketball team from 1961 through 1997, he crossed many of our paths. Maybe he was a special speaker at the house. Perhaps you met him personally through a fraternity brother. You and your brothers may have celebrated one of his national championships at the house. We said good-bye to this basketball legend and jolly good-fellow this past weekend.
CEOs, Directors and Entrepreneurs…Do You Know Your Beta Network?

“We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects.” (Herman Melville)
Are you connected? Do you have the latest information about who is doing what across our Beta Chapter brotherhood? Click below for a few updates. Then, let us know your goals and how your brothers can help you reach them in 2015.
Did You Know That Our New Chapter President is a Wrangler?
Yep, it’s true. He was a wrangler at a ranch in Wyoming last summer. And our new vice president is the co-founder of a gutter service. Oh, yeah, and one of our social chairs is actively involved in the Renewable Energy Special Projects Committee, focused on bringing renewable energy and energy efficiency to UNC’s campus. You will get a chance to meet each one of our new undergraduate officers over the next several months. Click below for a quick introduction.
50% in 5 Months … True Beta Excellence!

For many of us, the holidays come, and our lists of gifts to buy for others grows and grows … spouse, children, other family members, teachers, co-workers. The yard guy, postal worker and sanitation engineers might even make the list. And, certainly, the act of giving is one of the best parts of the season. So, thank you to those who added Delta Kappa Epsilon at UNC to your list. We would especially like to thank 8 brothers who made a first-time investment in something that ensures the future of our Beta brotherhood. Click below see the names of those made their first-ever gift this year.
DKE is calling- will you answer?
Since you’ve graduated, you’ve decided to fight for many different things- you’ve invested and bettered yourself because you had a personal stake in the outcome. Your “fights” have won you a higher wage, a family, a place to live, or even retirement.
We’re calling you back to the tribe.
We need you, our tribe of Delta Kappa Epsilon brothers, to band together again, just as you did as undergraduates in your pledge classes. Think back to those years: somewhere between a dozen and two dozen men living in the house, occasionally having parties, having talks together, constantly working toward the benefit of the group…we are a tribe, like it or not.
The best thing the tribe can do is give to the annual fund and provide a better tribe for future DKE brothers. In other words, giving to the annual fund not only helps you and the rest of the alumni, but will provide a better future for the undergraduates joining in the near future. The best thing you can do as an alumni is fight to preserve DKE, and all the memories and traditions from your time there that you hold most important.
