UNC students working with the Orange County Solid Waste Department have made it their mission to make fraternities and sororities on campus more environmentally friendly. They created the Greek Green Games, a competition that encourages green living in fraternity and sorority houses off campus, and the brothers at the DKE house have taken on the challenge.
Each group earns points for every environmentally friendly activity they do. At the end of the year, the fraternity and sorority with the most points will receive an award. Although it is a competition, the goal of the Green Games is really to educate students on how to be environmentally friendly.
The undergraduate brothers have made it their mission to score as many points as possible. Brother Wes Stroud said that he thinks the games are going really well. “I recently was able to reach out to the Orange County Solid Waste Management Department through the games so that we can work to implement an electrical waste bin at the DKE house,” he said.
