DKExcellence: The Four Corners Campaign

The Beta Chapter has embarked on a path to honor our past successes and ensure our future. With a dedicated team of alumni, who will serve as the Campaign Committee, and the support of our members, we will be able to ensure that our chapter continues to thrive for centuries.

The Beta DKE Corporation Board has recognized several capital needs, which cannot be funded through our annual operating budget and funds. They include:

Increased funding for the Caldwell Fund, which is a renovation, major repair, and replacement fund.

A challenge has been issued by three members of Beta DKE’s Class of 1968. This opportunity forms the foundation of the Four Corners Campaign.

Challenge: Raise $400,000 in gifts and pledges for the Eddie Caldwell Fund
Reward: DKE receives $200,000 for the Caldwell Fund
Objective: Raise Caldwell Fund from $400,000 to $1 million

The creation of a fund to support the Academic Excellence Program established in 2012. An initial gift of $30,000 has already been pledged to start this fund.
The creation of a fund to provide much-needed benefits to Meg Miller, Beta DKE’s long-time house mother/manager
Funds to carry out a necessary renovation to the dining room and kitchen of the DKE House

With these needs established, plans are in the works to ensure that we are able to support them with a goal of raising $1,280,000 by December 31, 2017. Raising these funds will allow us to:

  • Ensure that our Chapter House continues to be seen as a landmark of our fraternity through the completion of necessary repairs, updates, and renovations when needed.
  • Provide brothers with the academic support they need to succeed and encourage their academic excellence and leadership at DKE by awarding annual scholarships.
  • Provide assistance to Meg Miller, a long-time supporter of the organization.

As we undertake this campaign, other fraternities at UNC have recently and successfully completed funding campaigns for upgrades to their houses. In order for DKE to remain competitive at UNC, we must also attend to what we are able to offer undergraduates. Together, we will be able to continue to abide by the values and traditions our fraternity is known for and uphold the lasting legacy we have created in our members and on the UNC campus.
