The Meg Miller Fund

As we journey through life on Earth, from time to time—if we’re lucky—we encounter a handful of very special people with an inner glow that illuminates the lives of others. If we really get to the core of what makes these people special, it is their ability to love better than most.

The Beta Chapter of DKE has been fortunate over the years to have several of these very special people use their God given talents to better the lives of our chapter. For anyone who has come through the house since 1995, that person has been Meg Miller.

Meg currently serves as the cook and property manager for the Beta Chapter. Meg has been the heartbeat of the Beta Chapter of DKE for the last 21 years and is the mother and protector of the greatest fraternity in the State of North Carolina.

It is easy to see the tangible difference she has made on Beta DKE over the years by simply stopping by 132 S. Columbia. Sixteen years from the last major renovation, the house is still admired by all.

The harder thing to quantify in a page is the lasting effect she has had on the individual lives of the active brothers as they pass through the house, but we all can agree, Meg is constantly thinking about how to make everyone’s life at DKE just a little bit better.

“Friends from the Heart, Forever” is the powerful, and honestly challenging, motto we live by as Dekes. While Meg is not technically a brother, we believe she lives this motto as well as anyone who has had the privilege of being a part of Beta DKE.

Over the next five years, Meg is going to start to phase out of the kitchen and go into “retirement.” She will stay on as property manager as long as she and the board feel her health will allow.

Over the last 21 years, there have been numerous conversations on how to repay Meg for her commitment to DKE. Fortunately, it is not too late. We encourage each of you to thank Meg for her love and commitment to Beta DKE through a donation to her retirement fund.
