Last month we asked each of you who met your significant others through Beta Chapter to share your love stories with the rest of us in honor of Valentine’s Day. Brother William Bass ‘49 shared this DKE love story with us:
“Eddie Caldwell got a call from a resident of Avery Island, Louisiana; formerly resided at CH’s most prestigious address on Columbia St. He now had a daughter at UNC and he wanted Eddie to send a gentleman (if that was possible) from the DKE house to take her out, as she was lonesome and homesick. They became a twosome and soon after graduation were married. Since Eddie had played cupid at the beginning of this romance, he was invited to the wedding and a jet was sent to CH for his transport to Avery Island. Eddie said that he was there two days and nights before he realized he was staying in someone’s home and not a hotel.”
