What Did DKE Teach You About Leadership?

We recently asked each of you to take a minute or two to take a brief survey about how Delta Kappa Epsilon UNC made you the man you are today. Several of our brothers responded and, not surprisingly, the general consensus was that Beta Chapter of DKE was a very positive experience in their life. Here’s what your brothers had to say when asked “What did DKE teach you about leadership?”

Alfred Randolph ‘84
As Bro Beta at a time when attitudes about drinking (including the drinking age) were changing, I learned how to help the house balance the desire to have fun with the need to keep things in the fairway for the good of the house. It led to some interesting experiences.

Leaders lead by example.

William Lea Palmer ‘59
Leadership is always present. Lead by example and train others how to lead.

William Pender ‘58
The only good leadership is leadership by example. I witnessed great leaders among my fellow Dekes whom I would urge others to emulate.

John Rivers ‘67
The ability to listen [is important].

Do what’s right and stick to it. If you are right, they will follow.
