Excellence Abroad

The Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity is tight-knit group of brothers with a high standard of excellence. Charlie Talcott ’18 was able to uphold this standard even while studying abroad in Germany.
Charlie’s dream of studying in Germany stemmed from his high school German courses. When he arrived at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, his dreams became a reality. With a double major in German Literature & Culture and Business, Charlie was looking for a way to combine these two interests. His goal was to secure a summer internship in Germany.
Annual Fund Keeps Us Going Year after Year
As we proceed with our Four Corners Campaign, a major capital effort to raise $1.28 million to make necessary major renovations to our house, support the Academic Excellence Program, and provide benefits to Meg Miller, Beta DKE’s long-time house mother and manager, we equally need your participation in our annual fund.
Your annual gift enhances the lifelong DKE experience—not just for you, but for all Beta Chapter alumni, and for many more to come.
A Legacy Leader

Beta’s 2017 Chapter President Tim Cooper ’18 has DKE in his blood. Literally. His father and two brothers are DKE’s as well. He takes pride in his family legacy and in his role to lead the chapter, as well as the strong level of support that our alumni network shows.
“Alumni involvement and support is what keeps this place afloat and successful,” he said. “We love interacting with DKEs of all ages because it increases the brotherhood that really makes this place special.”
Represent Your Class for DKExcellence
We are seeking class agents for the DKExcellence: The Four Corners Campaign. As a class agent, you will be expected to make a gift and reach out to your class and longtime Beta brothers to encourage them to join you as active and generous participants in the success of the campaign.
There are still 44 classes that need representation. Is your class on the list?
Can You Believe It’s Been 35 Years?

Short shorts. Thick hair. And two house dogs. What else was hot in the early ’80s? Can anyone from this photo share some of the best stories from within the walls of the DKE house in 1982? Or stories of more recent reunions you’ve had with brothers pictured here?
How Beta of DKE, Inc. Keeps Going Year after Year
While we continue with our Four Corners Campaign, a major capital effort to raise $1.28 million to make necessary major renovations to our house, support the Academic Excellence Program, and provide benefits to Meg Miller, Beta DKE’s long-time house mother and manager, we are also in need of and greatly appreciate your annual fund support.

Who’s the Wise Guy?

We found this great photo from the 1977 Yackety Yak, and wanted to celebrate 40 years since it’s been taken. When we zoomed in on the picture, we found a wise guy in the mix, showing the world a full moon in all its glory. It may be a long shot, “butt” will anyone ‘fess up to being the wise guy on the steps in ’77?
Watson ’71 still passionate about being a DKE brother

O. Beech Watson ’71 has been a Delta Kappa Epsilon brother for nearly 50 years, having initiated in 1968. He recently answered a series of questions about his thoughts on the fraternity.
What advice do you have for graduating brothers as they start out in the real world?
OBW: If possible, find something to do that really interests you and not just take a job. I know, nothing new from what you have heard before, but it will make a difference in your career and life if you can do it.
Would you encourage your own son to join our fraternity? And if so, why?
OBW: Yes. It gives you a good identity on campus and a respected one at that. The fellowships you have will last a lifetime and your pledge brothers will be just that.
